Marci found her passion for American Tribal Style Bellydance in late 1998 after attending a performance of her friend Megha in Birmingham, AL. She is honored to have danced professionally with Megha and with Devyani at its formation in Birmingham until her move to the DC area in 2005. Marci is a founding member and current performer with Sammati Dance Company, the only "100% pure" ATS troupe in the Capitol area.
Marci currently holds the FatChance "General Skills" certification, and is honored to have been accepted into the Teacher Training program with Carolena Nericcio. Marci will be traveling in April of 2007 to complete the Teacher Training in a special intensive with Carolena and Devyani. Upon completion of her instructor training, Marci will be the only FCBD Certified instructor in the Mid-Atlantic states.
Having learned from both the originator of ATS and her partner, Marci is proud to carry on the tradition in maintaining the "pure" FatChance form of American Tribal Style Bellydance. Her love of this improvisational dance form is contagious; students will learn not only the technical aspects of the dance, but find the freedom, joy and trust that comes from the interplay between dancers with each other and with the music.
